To make your transactions easy and convenient, we offer top-up in three cryptocurrencies: USDT TRC20 (Tron), USDT ERC20 (Ethereum), Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the largest and most popular cryptocurrency. However, due to market fluctuations, the rate may change. Therefore, it is more convenient to use so-called stablecoins.

A stablecoin is a crypto asset with a stable rate, not subject to sharp price fluctuations, unlike volatile cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and others. Stablecoins represent fiat currencies on the crypto market.

USDT is the first and most popular stablecoin on the crypto market, a crypto token with a fixed price tied to fiat, in this case, the US dollar. That is, having 500 USDT, you essentially have 500 USD. And this cryptocurrency is in no way subject to the influence of the market, regardless of whether the crypto market will grow or fall.

USDT TRC-20 is a special token similar to USDT, but issued on the TRON network and used to create smart contracts on this network.
USDT ERC-20 is a version of the USDT token created on the Ethereum network.

Differences between TRC20 and ERC20 standards

The characteristics of USDT TRC20 and USDT ERC20 are largely identical and almost completely the same. However, Tether issued on Tron is different from Tether issued on Ethereum.

This is the reason why it was necessary to issue Tether on different networks. Thus, stablecoins in the Tron blockchain network appeared due to the high transaction fees of Ethereum 1.0 and relatively low processing speed. This is the main difference between the USDT TRC20 and USDT ERC20 standards, and also, perhaps, the main reason why the number of Tether transactions on Tron has recently exceeded transactions on Ethereum.

In addition, the list of differences between TRC20 and ERC20 for the Tether cryptocurrency includes the following:

  • the base ERC20 blockchain is Ethereum, and TRC20 uses the Tron network;
  • USDT ERC20 transaction time is 5-15 minutes on average, USDT TRC20 offers high transaction speeds and often processes transactions in less than a minute;
  • When transferring TRC20, you need to pay a fee of less than a cent, and transferring TRC20 costs about $6;
  • USDT ERC20 has an increased level of security and privacy, and USDT TRC20 has average user and fund security.

By and large, the Tether coin remains the same in all networks. The differences lie in the issuance standards, transaction processing speed, and the amount of fees.

Tether crypto wallets support both token standards - you can receive and store both USDT ERC20 and USDT TRC20. And when sending coins from your storage, you can simply specify which network you want to send them to - ERC20 or TRC20.

Which USDT is better: TRC-20 or ERC-20?

The choice between tokens issued on a particular network depends on your preferences and priorities. If low fees and high transaction speeds are more important to you, a TRC-20 cryptocurrency will be your best option. If your priority is wider adoption and a high level of security, then choose ERC-20-based tokens.
